Every College and University has different procedures for admission. Some do conduct an entrance examination and some provide direct admission. It mostly depends upon the course and the college reputation. If the course is highly in demand, or the college has a great ranking and reputation then the entrance examination is held to shortlist the students. The entrance examination also has certain guidelines that are to be maintained. Anyone cannot appear for entrance test. As if some colleges or universities make sure that the candidate has minimum of 50% marks in 12th to appear in the common entrance test.
